가난은 어마어마한 부 앞에서 오히려 당당하다. 어차피 비교 될수 없는 다른 세상이기 때문에. 가난이 정말 부끄러워 질때는 성실함 앞에서이다. 한푼두푼 모아 나만의 작은 성을 꾸린 보통 서민들의 성실함과 겸손함 앞에 가난의 게으름과 오만함이 벌거벗겨진 것 같아 너무너무 부끄럽다. 내 마음까지 가난한 것 같아서. 어떤 종류의 사람이 되느냐 어떤 존재가 되느냐 어떤 인간으로 사느냐라는 관점에서 잘못된 길을 걷고 있다는걸 느낀다. 이것은 내가원한 인간으로서의 삶이 아니다. 나는 언제 원하는 존재였던 적이 있는가? 틀리고 잘못된 것은 이미 완성이다. 하지만 이것을 미완성이라고, 완성을 위한 과정이라고 오해하고 살았으니 미련하고 무지한 스스로에 대한 실망이 더해진다. 어떤 것을 소유하고 어떻게 사느냐가 아니라 어떤 존재가 되느냐에 실패한 댓가는 쓰다.
